The Retail Manager will serve as a team leader, reporting to the owner, with the goal of empowering yourself and the team to execute the store’s assortment and fulfillment strategy by department, while ensuring appealing in store display and excellent customer service. Success in this role includes outstanding communication and cooperation with vendors to minimize inventory losses, while merchandising a beautiful retail display of products and signage to appeal to customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Uphold the values of excellent customer service, lead by example.
Develop and maintain an inventory management plan with consistency in non perishables and seasonal fresh rotating items, with corresponding attractive department display and merchandising signage.
Manage stock by department to meet the planned budget and income goals. Top metrics include sales, margins, expenses, labor cost. Managing inventory controls is a top priority. Ensure stock levels are are appropriately managed.
Enter new items and prices in the point of sale system as needed. Print and prepare item signage as needed.
Receive inventory as delivered during your shift - confirm all inventory counts match up with invoicing.
Record received inventory into the point of sale system. Print barcodes as needed and label stock during down time.
Print point of sale reports and complete end-of-day paperwork.
Manage the cash register area to comply with store operating procedures and protocols.
Execute plans to grow department sales and continuously improve our offering.
Promote a positive work environment with team spirit and high morale.
Tracking expenses by category (procurement, labor, inventory transfers, etc) to your budget and producing reports to be reviewed by the GM.
Documenting and reviewing all prices with periodic checks on store and department margins.
Ensure that all procedures maximize food safety and comply with local regulations. Execute routine food safety checks on refrigerator and freezer temperatures. Remove out of date stock. Monitor employee sanitation and operations.
Qualifications and Experience
Affinity for local food and knowledge of a wide variety of produce and meats; a match for our values
2+ years experience in retail food department leadership, merchandising, inventory management, team management, customer service.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel to manage inventory and budget
Proficient in general computer applications such as email, POS systems, and more
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Organized and systems oriented approach to problem solving
Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
